Are you a community publication searching for contributors? A small business start-up planning a blog or newsletter? A property manager looking to profile your merchants?

 We should talk.

I’m Dan Austin, budding freelance writer.  I taught high school English for 35 years, college English for 20.  I know where the commas go.  I can interview, write a lead and create a nut graph. I can write tight copy or tighten copy already written. And I know that deadline is not an arbitrary word.

You can check out my published work by clicking on the publications bar. Or read website writing samples on my blog. If you think you have a project for me, contact me at danielraustin@homerowink.com

If you just want to know more about me, here are some fun facts:

•I was named National Yearbook Adviser of the Year in 2006 by the Journalism Education Association.

•I am certain high stakes testing is a wrongheaded method to assess schools.

•I will always argue that John Elway is the greatest quarterback of all time.
